Merchant Navy Medal 2008

The Merchant Navy are proud to announce the recipients of the Medal as follows:

  • M.P. Coombs, Executive Purser, ARTEMIS, P and O Cruises, for services to cruise liners and the South Atlantic Medal Association.
  • Capt. J.R. Freestone, Senior River Pilot, Port of London Authority, for services to Thames pilotage and youth sail training.
  • Capt. R.J.M. Grey, MBE, Columnist and formerly Editor, Lloyds List, for services to marine journalism and merchant seafaring.
  • Miss A.P. Haines, formerly Registrar, Mission to Seafarers, for services to the welfare of merchant seafarers (honorary).
  • Cdr. C.F. Heron-Watson, RN, Secretary, Royal Merchant Navy School Foundation, for services to the welfare and education of needy dependents of merchant seafarers (honorary).
  • Capt. M.J. Morton, Fleet Training Officer, Arklow Shipping, for services to coastal shipping.
  • Capt. C.R. Pratt, Pilot, Tees Bay Pilots, for brave conduct in the rescue and care of pilot overboard from KARINA G, Tees Bay, 17/4/08.
  • Capt. E.M. Scott, RD, RNR, Immediate Past Master, the Hon. Company of Master Mariners, for services to merchant seafaring and the Nautical Institute.
  • C.P.O. J.W. Summers, Deck Officer, RRS JAMES CLARK ROSS, British Antarctic Survey, for services to polar exploration and scientific QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 research.
  • A.R. Todd, Fleet Director, James Fisher and Sons for services to marine surveying and consultancy.
  • Chief Engineer B.J. Wattling, QUEEN MARY 2, Cunard Line, for services to cruise liners.
