All nominations for the award of the Merchant Navy Medal must adhere to the MNM Regulations and be submitted on the MNM Nomination Form. The form should be forwarded to the Merchant Navy Welfare Board, in strict confidence and in writing, enclosing as much information about the candidate as possible. Nominators should highlight what they consider to be the specific reasons for the request of the award. Nominations may be submitted at any time of year, but must reach the Merchant Navy Welfare Board, administration office of the Medal, at the very latest by June 30th each year. The Committee will communicate its decision in writing to the successful candidates and their employers or nominators by September 30th. The list of recipients will be released immediately before Trafalgar Day, October 21st. The making of awards is entirely at the discretion of the Merchant Navy Medal Executive Committee and its decisions shall be final.
